Ganeshgudi – A pearl in western ghats is a birders paradise for endemic western ghat species and also for winter migrants. It is an absolute delight waking up with the calls of malabar whistling thrush. Birding inside and around the campus will surely keep you busy all day. Fruiting trees near the camp and in Dandeli just adds to the list. A drive to timber depot and late evening sighting of flying hornbills are just a few highlights. For the adventurous types, Ganeshgudi offers rafting and trekking through the thick vegitation of this rich forest. I was lucky to even see a tiger near the camp and a black panther crossing the main road.
